JanamJyot ("we", "us", "the app") is a Vedic-astrology mobile app created by Vansh Kashyap. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and honest.
Information we collect
Account details — your name and email address when you sign up with email or continue with Google.
Birth details you enter — the date, time and place of birth you provide to create a Janam Kundli. These are used to calculate your chart.
Your questions — the messages you send to the AI astrologer feature.
Basic usage data — limited technical information (such as feature usage and error logs) needed to run and improve the app.
How we use your information
To calculate your Kundli, dashas, panchang and compatibility.
To generate personalised, chart-based astrology guidance and voice playback.
To maintain your account and sync your saved charts across your devices.
To keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
AI processing — exactly what is sent
To generate astrologer replies, reports and natural voice, some of your information is processed by third-party AI providers (Google Gemini, and Groq / OpenRouter / OpenAI / Anthropic as fallbacks). We send only what the reading needs:
Sent: your calculated chart (planet positions, houses, dasha periods), your first name only so the reply can address you, the question you typed, and your chosen language.
Never sent: your full name, date of birth, time of birth, birth place, birth coordinates, email address, or password.
AI-generated answers can be inaccurate and are for personal reflection only.
Feedback & public reviews
If you submit feedback with a rating, a positive review (4–5 stars) may be published publicly on our website together with the name you entered. Low ratings are never published. You can ask us to remove your review at any time, and deleting your account also deletes your feedback.
How your data is stored
Your account and chart data are stored on secure, access-controlled database infrastructure (Supabase / PostgreSQL). API keys and secrets stay on our server and are never shipped inside the app.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers that are necessary to run the app (hosting, database, AI and sign-in providers), and only to the extent needed to deliver the service, or where required by law.
Your choices & rights
You can view and edit your saved charts inside the app.
You can request a copy of your data at any time.
You can delete your account yourself, instantly, inside the app: Settings → Account → “Delete my account”. This permanently removes your account, saved kundlis and charts, reports, chat history, usage records and any feedback you left. It cannot be undone.
You can also email us from your registered address (see below) and we will remove your data.
You can turn on App Lock (Settings → Privacy & data) so the app asks for your fingerprint or screen lock before opening.
Screens you open are cached on your own device so the app works offline. You can clear this any time from Settings → Privacy & data.
Children
JanamJyot is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
